Comiket 83 - December 29th
Dec. 10th, 2012 11:27 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Greetings! I'm Jessamy, fangirl and doujinshi-appreciator. I live in Yokohama area, teaching English as so many do, which happily allows a good mount of time for fannish activities.
This is the first time I'll be doing a shopping service, coached by feikoi from afar. My plans are to attend Comiket on Dec 29th , which is when the Western fandoms will be represented (my own interest.) No to worry, it's not ALL Western fandoms on the 29th. But I'm happy to shop for fanbooks for Japanese fandoms, provided we can work out the area and seller! I'm somewhat limited by my reading skills.
The offical DVD for Comiket is released on the 15th, and once it's in my hands, I will be able to help search up circles or artists. If you know the kanji/name, shoot it to me and the Hall and table can be worked out.
One note - I won't be going to the Corporate Hall whatsoever.
Due to lateness and the fact that I won't be able to use deposits until feikoi is back from holidays, I'll be putting up my own money for the event - another reason I'll be attending just one day. So I can accept orders until I reach a limit of 100,000 yen (if I get that many.). Deposits are therefore going to be mostly goodwill on your part.
Placing an Order:
❀ Send an email to jessamygriffin❀gmail.com, with "C83" in the subject line and the following information:
Minimal Form
Full Form
If you know the prices of your items, that will be helpful in keeping track at the event.
Commission and Fees:
Payment:
Payment is through PayPal, preferably in USD (Y1000=$14.10, to account for bank's fees). Due to Paypal Japan's policy as of 2010 of not accepting payments from non-merchants overseas (why?) I will be using feikoi's Paypal.
Deposit of $10.00 per item (or the cost of the requested items in some cases) is due prior to the event, by the listed deadline of December 27th (EST). The amount of the deposit paid will be subtracted from the final total to calculate the amount due. (I will discuss the expected deposit amount with you when the order is placed.)
EVENT NOTES:
Often times, circles don't post their event information until a few days before the event. Once I have the catalogue, I can help search things to a limited extent (I'm unfamiliar with many Japanese fandoms, and since I have poor reading skills I'll need help with the names to find the circles on the map.)
The order deadline is December 27th.
Priority Circles:
1. Attend [first building, first hall set]
2. Attend [first building, second hall set]
3. Break
4. Attend [second building, remaining halls]
5. Double-back and see if latecomers showed up at all.
If you want to reserve first-circle-visited status, especially useful for those super-popular wall circles, it will be an additional fee of 35 USD, first come first served.
Physically, halls are split up into East and West buildings, with two sets of open-plan halls in each building. I will probably go to either East or West hall first, then attend the remaining halls. (For example: East 4-5-6 is first priority, East 1-2-3 is second priority, then West 1-2.) When I get more information about who is attending where, I will post up the attendance order.
EVENT SUMMARY:
NAME: Comic Market 83
DATE: December 29th
INITIAL ORDER DEADLINE: December 27th, EST. (Inexact orders are okay; alterations accepted up through a few days before the event.)
DEPOSIT DEADLINE: Dec 27th, EST

If you know the prices of your items, that will be helpful in keeping track at the event.
Commission and Fees:
- General commission is Y800 per regular circle, or 30% the cost of items from each circle, whichever is greater.
- Due to likelihood of massive lines, wall circles will also incur a Y500 fee. At C81, wall circles were A, シ, あ, れ sections. Wall circle fees will not be applied to the last priority section, unless there's still a significant line at that point in the event.
- Special goods (non-flat, fragile, or larger than B5 size) will incur an additional fee, usually Y200 per item.
- The grand total will also include cost of items, shipping and handling (your choice of method) and PayPal fees.
Payment:

Date: 2012-12-11 11:28 am (UTC)Basically, when it comes to fan stuff, Japan is kinda the coolest place on Earth. This is the biggest self-published comic fair in the world, over a half-million people will cram the biggest convention halls in Tokyo. And it's by fans, for fans.
There's even a corporate section for manga or anime and stuff, because - "Hey, gosh, these people really love the show or manga or whatever, so instead of screaming about copyright or profits, let's let them share their love because it doesn't materially harm us or cut into our profits, makes our show more popular because they are sharing their interest with others, and the artists aren't in it for money, or not large enough amounts that we need to take notice legally." Disney could learn a few things.
Another cool thing about these events is the fact that it's a world populated by at least 75% girls. Artists, fans...

Date: 2012-12-11 11:56 pm (UTC)But you don't have to explain.
I hope you get enough commissions to make the whole thing worthwhile for you! Sounds like a nightmare to me.
OK - here's a more pertinent question: Is there likely to be any Sherlock or Aubreyad at this shindig? ;-)

Date: 2012-12-12 06:19 am (UTC)I always tell people to get through M and C IN SPITE of the ships-splaining.
Sherlock, yes, but there will be a bigger representation of the fandom at another event in Jan. No real fantastic porny stuff, sadly.
Oh, the wall circles thing - basically it's this. Some artists are so hugely popular, that you have to get in a line to get their stuff. And this is like a Disneyland line - Jamie told me she has waited up to two hours for one artist. Their work is popular, and probably goes up in price, and of course limited editions sometimes.

Sorry about that!

Date: 2012-12-27 10:11 am (UTC)Okay, as there's one day left to order, if it's not getting through, you can put the order here just in case. I mean, LJ's not perfect, but I can use it to communicate for basics, though we'll need email at some point for the invoice and stuff!

Date: 2012-12-28 05:31 am (UTC)Yes, I did get the order then, and I just get confused by, well - LJ usernames not being email addresses and names.
Minun! And now I know. Your items are all on the list.
Question - what kind of spreadsheet file can you open? I may test on you - .xml, .ods ... a few people have said they can't open the xmls files. I use Libre Office myself, not having MS Office.
