Well. Japanese fan comics and art. I will buy them for people who want them. People want them for various reasons - the value goes up, they have excellent art or stories, or they take the characters and go into AU stuff. And porn, too. I will get paid a commission for my troubles, i.e. train fare, lunch, the waiting in freezing cold, and the huge line-ups and shopping and then the shipping.
Basically, when it comes to fan stuff, Japan is kinda the coolest place on Earth. This is the biggest self-published comic fair in the world, over a half-million people will cram the biggest convention halls in Tokyo. And it's by fans, for fans.
There's even a corporate section for manga or anime and stuff, because - "Hey, gosh, these people really love the show or manga or whatever, so instead of screaming about copyright or profits, let's let them share their love because it doesn't materially harm us or cut into our profits, makes our show more popular because they are sharing their interest with others, and the artists aren't in it for money, or not large enough amounts that we need to take notice legally." Disney could learn a few things.
Another cool thing about these events is the fact that it's a world populated by at least 75% girls. Artists, fans...
