I look at the test coat I have wrought, and it is good. I also see a number of areas that need tweaking. But for what it is, it is not bad, and is totally wearable and not just a rubbishy costume piece. Though if my friend uses it for that, I don't give a toss, it's done.
Areas to Tweak
1. The lapels/collar need to be a bit smaller, the notch in the promo pics shows this.
2. Needs to be much much longer, but I knew that already from when I first cut it out.
3. The pocket placement and welt pockets - not quite right. Close.
4. Sleeves - the cuff needs to be a touch deeper and the sleeve head needs to be rotated back, except I can't be arsed with a test coat, god.
5. If the lapels need to be narrower, then the button placement likewise needs to be shifted.
#1 thing I am still hating and grudging on - the welt pockets. FUCK you Bestaff. What are they even FOR? Does he ever use them???
The lower patch pockets are just fine, though.

I discovered that I'd placed the belt in back crooked and had to tear it out and shift it higher on the right. The sleeve head was also puckered on one side, but not the other - why? Ripped that out and fixed as well.

My dummy is padded up a bit fat - too much for this... it's kinda straining the coat. OH WELL.
The shoulder pads make it tremendously butch, which works as the girl I am giving my test coat to does a lot of cross-dress as a boy. She has tremedously shrimpy arms, though - but if I cocked up the sleeve length, I can just drop the cuff and re-tack it.
Yes, that is a wig head in the back, with my attempt at doing a Sherlock curling test on a cheap plastic wig with curlers and hot water. OH GOD - quel disastre. Looks fine with a top hat though. It's a vintage piece from Canada, I wear it with my regency outfit. The head cost me 300 yen.

Otherwise - TEST COAT DONE FUCK YEAH YOU PAIN IN THE ARSE
I expect the wool to be MUCH more forgiving. Lovely wool....
P.S. Swishes beautifully, even for such a shortened version.
