LOVED it, except for starving on the second day.. and the first... I ran out of muffins. Great costumes on people! Didn't take any pics because they do thw cosplay outside, it was freezing. (They do it outside to keep photographers from clogging the merchant area, which is already clogged with buyers.)
Me and about half a mill Japanese. It was good. Very good. Damn, these artists are GOOD.
We got in early, before everyone. There are lines of people thousands long to get in at the start. People CAMP to get in early. You know how to get in early? Have contacts - it's very Japanese. We have friends, and they are vendors, so we get vendor tickets as if we are staff. So we go in to the nice warm halls before they open for business. It is the Willy Wonka gold ticket of japanese geeky fandom. Good thing too - some artists are so popular you'll wait an hour in a line to buy their newest offerings. Crazy. My friend Jamie does shopping for people here and ships it aboad.
As for my hopes of seeing Sherlock stuff... huge disapointment - there was very little Western fandom stuff there. VERY little. I have higher hopes for Movies Paradis event in February. Yes, there was some Sherloock BBC stuff there, about 5 vendors, but three were mainly just fanfics they'd written. Um, no. I will just say this once:
I am there for fan comics. Porny ones are nice, but artistic ones are better.
On the plus side, I did buy some very cool and very weird things - I didn't find out HOW weird until I got them home.
The cream of the two Sherlock ones - here, have crappy iPhone pics. This moment, I loved. It is the fanfic in my head, always.
I won't bother with the set up, who cares, I just live for the little moments. Also, I reversed the pics so it wasn't Japanese right to left reading, ok?

OK - so I don't translate all that well. That is the GIST. And for the second last one with Sherlock outside the door, the sound effect is (-DON-) but it's actually not a sound. It's... hard to translate, but it means, like - ( Reaction! BIG impact! ). I wrote thump, as in he slumped against the door, for a possible similar reaction. No, don't want to translate more THANK YEW.
But that last page - INDIRECT KISS. Loved it.
Okay, not crazy about the art style for Sherlock, but the FEELING is right. It's a non-porn one too. Mrs. Hudson is is it and so cute!
What else did I buy? WARNINGS - I bought what some would consider fucked up shit. I didn't always know what I was getting, I was in a hurry and didn't read every page when I got it, but if you don't want to know, skip the rest of the post. I like what I got, it's gorgeous and funny and weird and sexy too sometimes.
Tron Legacy - 2 comics. One has a good story, and the auth actually gave a sheet with translations! The other looked cool and then it had sex between Tron still in his Tron outift and... whassname, son of Flynn. NOT BAD.
El Shaddai - a beautifully designed game for the PS3 and the characters (Enoch and Lucifel - hmmmm). Yes, games have fan-comics. The SURPRISE was not the porn. It was when Lucifel shaved Enoch down below. Me - Hands clutching cheeks "holy shit!'
House M.D. humorous one - Hugh Laurie would spit his wine if he saw this. Yes, it slashes him with his best friend, but GOD the art - SO funny, his face! A+
A Thor/Loki one, very short. PWP.
A short porny Sherlock one, which ends with Sherlock producing his latest theft from Lestrade. Yes, handcuffs.
X-men first class - CRACK PORN. I got it for the promising cover and wasn't disapointed. OK, so I never saw the movie. Who cares. Charles, and Eric as a catboy (ears and tail) going at it. WIN.
Watchmen - Rorschach/Nightowl - This artist had a comic I bought before and LOVED - catboy Rorscach - the stupidest and funniest porn comic ever. This one, not so much, but tentacles did show up. As they do!
Naruto - BEAUTIFUL. The art... wow.
Bayonetta. Beautiful art.
Tiger and Bunny - Keith/Ivan. Beautiful.
Supernatural - a funny one where Castiel babysits the young Winchester kids. And a Dean/Castiel one, and a Dean/Sam one, but it works for me because it's more humour than anything else.
Gintama - Beautiful art.
Tiger and Bunny - HUGE following right now, lots of artists and it's all quality. That being said, I went and looked for the odd ones besides the usual slash pair of Tiger/Bunny. These men are both heroes, so lots of boy/boy action.
My favs of Tiger/Bunny? I got one with nipple action (surprise!).
One genderswitched Bunny to female and that was good, you don't always see hetero when the fangirls get going, right?
One involved Tiger in girls underwear being all embarassed when Bunny finds him, and sexytimes happen.
HANDS DOWN WINNER - Tiger/Bunny. I THOUGHT it was genderswitching the boys to girls. I opened it at home and again (hands to face AAAAAH). They were sexy girly looking hermaphrodites gettin it on. HOLY HELL. And cue the awkward moment at the end when they switch to being boys. OMIGOD. I canNOT even adequately describe this. I... mild surprise, no. HERMAPHRODITES, and.... and... it WORKS.
That artist is a genius, I can't even. I never.
So. Good times, indeed.
