Doujin are fanworks, self-published in Japan. For money, but not enough for profit. Why does this happen? The people who make the originals see the value of fans sharing love and interest in their product and it is like advertising but free. Hell even some of the original authors of mangs will do an offshoot, porny or otherwise, of their own work for a mental break. Not through their publisher but on their own.

So - Western fandom is a small subset in Japan. Compared to, say, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist and home-grown stuff like that. Also, there is no predicting the love of J-fangirls. They have a huge thing for RDJ, for example.

Horatio Hornblower, too. And Richard Sharpe. Not so much Master and Commander, but when I can, I'll pick up all three types. The M and C stuff - I've only managed to find two. TWO.

One is movie based, short and silly. The other is actually book-based, and tells the story of the first book (a little) from the POV of the midshipmen.

And so, these snaps are for alltoseek, who needs fresh fandom stuff like Sherlock needs nicotine.

First up - movie silliness - Love Love Dr. Aishiteru, or Love Love Doctor I love You. (No why would it make sense, it is Japan and you are not allowed.)

Sorry for quality, I just use my iphone, I have no scanner. And YES the cover is glossy with rainbowy little flecks! Very sparkly. And so we have our Doctor, and the Captain, and Pullings, and yes the middies.

Lord Blakeney has entirely the right idea about the captain. The Captain is a leetle shocked.
The captain interrupts Stephen in middle of a dissection... the artist forbore to draw it, but it VERY funny considering the location and how Japanese porn is always pixelating the bits.. no not kidding.

In which Jack imagines Pullings is quite grateful to the Doctor... oh shock. Stephen is all, no, it's not like that.
And the middies show their love for the doctor as well.

Second one was interesting - being book based, and the charcters are very cute.

I cannot for the life of me remember the character names from M and C the book of all the middies. The one on the bottom right with freckles is Babbington. Ah.. wait. Tom Pullings is the one with long straight hair. Mowett is the one with curly short hair in the middle.

On the left, the Doctor is adorkable, falling down the steps. As usual.
On the right... Mr. Dillon is found dead, and Jack is upset.
On the left - Dillon, Jack and Tom. On the Right, Jack - note this detail! The scar, the mangled ear. Well done, author.

AWESOME! YOU ARE THE AWESOMEST FRIEND A FANGIRL COULD HAVE!

:D :D :D

How do you keep making me fall more in love with you? :D

Yes, these are well done - love the portrait there of Jack at the end. And the middies are so cute! Much cuter than in reality, I'm afraid - Babbs was supposed to be full of acne, not freckles, and in general all three were pretty squalid and wore ill-fitting uniforms - Pullings from poverty, Babbs from lack of expected growth, and Mowett on general principles :-)

The dissection scene is cute, but still confusing to me... But it says Post Captain right there, and that made me very happy! :D

Yes, the way Sherlock needs his patches - JUST ONE IS NOT ENOUGH!

Ahhhhh.... :D <3 :D <3 :D <3

The dissection pic - it says at the top that jack and Stephen are enjoying life and staying at some mansion.
Jack is saying, '(Stephen) Don't spend so much time with that thing.'

The artist didn't draw the dead animal and just wrote with the little arrow 'that thing'. It is ridiculous. Like, who cares what it is or something.

The second book is rather sweet, they are so happy Tom gets his step, but he is happy and sad, because if Dillon hadn't died...

The first book is done by two artists, hence the cover has two styles on front and back.

My Horatio Hornblower ones are very nice. Non slashy, but there was one with Horatio walking naked after a swim and my. Nice bottom there... Obviously based on the Tv adaptation.
